OUTLINE RIM_edited

Malaysia is well known as multiracial country in the world. There are more than three races of its nation such as Malay, Indian and Chinese as major races. Punjabi is also one of the races in Malaysia. Punjabi is a unique race based on it faith, rituals, rites and its festival. One of the festivals is known as Vaisakhi festival.

Vaisakhi also known as Baisakhi, Vaishakhi, or Vasakhi is a festival celebrated across the northern Indian subcontinent, especially in the Punjab region by the Sikh community. More recently, this festival is also celebrated around the world by Sikh diaspora. For the Sikh community this festival commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa. It is also celebrated by Hindus and Buddhist for different reasons including the start of a new year. People in the Punjab region regard Vaisakhi as a harvest festival.

Baisakhi or Vaisakhi Festival is celebrated as the Sikh New Year and the Foundation Day of Khalsa Panth. History of Baisakhi traces its origin from the Baisakhi Day celebrations of 1699 organized by the Tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh to form Khalsa- Brotherhood of Saint Soldier to fight against tyranny and oppression.
Vaisakhi is celebrated as a harvest festival by the large farming community in the states of Punjab and Haryana. Since Vaisakhi falls in the middle of the month of April (April 13), Vaisakhi marks the harvest time of the rabi (winter) crops. Farmers are loaded with cash at this time and are in full mood and spirit to enjoy the fruits of hard work as they celebrate Vaisakhi. The auspicious festival of Baisakhi is celebrated on first day of Vaisakh month (April-May) according to the Nanakshahi calendar. Hence, the festival of Baisakhi is also popularly known as Vaisakhi .

According to English Calendar, Baisakhi falls on April 13 every year and on April 14 once in every 36 years. This variation in date is due to the fact that date of Baisakhi is reckoned according to the Indian solar calendar and not the lunar calendar. The date of Baisakhi festival has tremendous significance in Sikhism.

Sikhs all over the world celebrate the day with lot of enthusiasm and gaiety. Festival of Baisakhi is celebrated as a Thanksgiving Day by the farmers. People wake up early on the day and take bath in holy river and pay a visit to the temple or gurdwara (Sikhworship place) and take part in special prayer meeting. Farmers thank god for the bountiful harvest and pray for good times in a coming year. Many people also perform charity on the day as a custom. Vaisakhi marks the beginning of the new spring year and the end of the harvest of rabi crop in India. The cries of “Jatta aai Baisakhi" rent the skies as the people of Punjab attired in their best clothes break into the Bhangra and Gidda dance to express their joy. As a tradition men dress up in colourful lungi, kurta and pagri while womenfolk clad themselves in salwar kameez or lehenga. They further adorn themselves with loads of jewellery. After a special ardas of kirtans (religious songs) and discourses kada prasad (sweetened semolina) is distributed to the congregation. Later, people sit in rows to relish the langar or community lunch prepared and served by kar sevaks or volunteer.
In Islamic perceptive, in order to show our gratitude toward the bounty given by Allah, we have to worship Him and follow the Comandment and Prohibition of Allah, not by visit the Gudwara and performing dance as be doing by the Punjabis. Besides, Muslims are banned to join the celebration of other religions. Muslims are forbidden to celebrate Vaisakhi because it will lead us to shirk to Allah based on surah An- Nahl verse 106. Allah said “Whose denies Allah after believing Him save him who is compelled and his heart is firm in beliefs, yes whose becomes infidel with open heart.Upon them is the wrath of Allah and for them is the great torment”. In Vaisakhi, there are having open dancing which are “bangra” and “giddha” that are involving free mixing between men and women. Islam prevents free mingling between male and female in any of our activity. Furthermore, Islam command the Muslims to celebrate any festival in moderation way.

In conclusion, Punjab celebrated Vaisakhi as the Sikh New Year and as a harvest festival on April 13. Vaisakhi is a unique and important celebration for Punjab community. Vaisakhi is celebrated with a happiness and enthusiasm by dancing and singing between male and female to show a thanksgiving day. Men also dress up in colourful lungi, and they adorn themselves with loads of jewellery.

Next, as the day progresses, loud cries of “Jatta aayi Baisakhi”reverberate in the sky as men and women move towards the field to celebrate the harvest festival. As a tradition men dress up in colourful lungi, kurta and pagri while womenfolk clad themselves in salwar kameez or lehenga. They further adorn themselves with loads of jewellery.

In addition, Major attraction of Vaisakhi celebrations in villages is the performance of energetic bhangra and gidda dance by men and women respectively. This very popular traditional folk dance is performed in-groups on the fast beat of dhol. Moreover, Colourful Baisakhi Fairs are organized at several places in Punjab to mark the harvest festival of Baisakhi. Performance of bhangra and gidda dance besides other recreational activities make Baisakhi melas a major crowd puller. People also indulge in shopping and eating spree in the numerous stalls set up in the fairs.

Assalamualaikum bumi CFS tercinta- institusi kesayangan > Kenangan kat rumah

Assalamualaikum sume. Hrmm, saje nk share story n my feeling. Awal bulan 11, aku menjerit2 sebab nak blik CFS, tapi ade sebab tertentu tak boleh nak dielakkan. Allah bagi peluang kat aku nak berbakti kat mak abah. Yelah, sejak tingkatan satu aku menjadi hostellian kat SM Ahmad Boestamam sampaila mengecapi kejayaan 9A dalam PMR. Alhamdulillah diterima msuk ke sebuah sekolah berasrama penuh kat Kajang, Selangor. Kalau diikutkan sejarah, akulah satu- satunya anak Dr. Azian (cewah) yang dapat merantau jauh menimba ilmu sejak alam persekolahan lagi. Jadinya, dengan scara rasminya ku menyambung status hostellian sampai tingkatan 5. Then, dapat la panggilan join PLKN kat Sg. Pada 15 Jun (kalau tak silap) aku register Pusat Asasi UIA kat PJ. Memang kalau dulu tolong mak masak kat dapur tu, tolong2 potong bawang and so on. Pastu run, run, buat tak tahu. hehe.. Takdela smpai gitu.

Bonus cuti 3 bulan aku kat rumah ni, macam- macam jadi kat aku. Sekarang ni aku boleh dah masak kari, gulai lemak n puding roti. Itu sebahagian. Tapi kawan- kawan aku best, bagi support. Hehe. Aku taklah berapa pandai masak sebenarnya.

Duduk rumah aku jadi surirumah kedua yang asyik kne leter dek mak aku. hahaha.. tapi buat je walaupun kna tahan telinga ni. Best sebab aku suka memerap kt rumah. Aku belajar satu benda, ank dara tak elok asyik keluar je, dengan family tu lainla. The reason is nowadays, the world is very2 cruel. Bahaya. Takut juga. As Muslimah, we have to cover our aurah bcoz we are precious creatures. Betul tak? Mahram n suami kita je boleh tengok. Im still in hijrah. Sikit- sikit. Give me support and doa.

Aku ikut abah pergi kebun dia. Tolong ambil buah sawit. Tolong sikit- sikit. Aku tak harap pun abah aku bagi upah, tapi tu rezeki. Dapatla sikit duit belanja. Actually tak nak susahkan abah. Abah tu kuat orangnya. Cekal dan sangat mengambil berat pasal anak- anaknya terutama sekali bab pelajaran. Alhamdulillah now aku berada di tangga kejayaan. Jadi nak naik kena usaha.

Cuti- cuti ni pun menziarah maksu kat Taiping sambil- sambil libur. Libur tu ape?? Libur tu cuti. suka guna words baru. Mandi -manda. Luangkan masa. Sebenarnya aku ni mabuk kenderaan, tapi tahan je. New year haritu kakak aku masuk hospital. Kesian dia. I will get new family member...Tak tahu lagi lelaki ke perempuan. Kalau perempuan means cucu perempuan sulungla. Waaaahh, tak sabar sebenarnya. InsyaAllah semuanya baik.

Baca kuat- kuat!!!! ALHAMDULILLAH. Tahniah!! satu tanda kesyukuran kita kepada Allah.

SEKIAN

P/s walaupun cuti dah nak habis, tapi sempat tengok ending Pencetus Ummah.. >_<

Lagu Kenangan!!! special for MUMTAZian 613 CFS IIUM 2013/14

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea
I’ll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can’t see
I’ll be the light to guide you

Find out what we’re made of
What we are called to help our friends in need
You can count on me like one, two, three
I’ll be there and I know when I need it
I can count on you like four, three, two
And you’ll be there ’cause that’s what friends
Are supposed to do, oh yeah, ooh, ooh
If you toss and you turn and you just can’t fall asleep
I’ll sing a song beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Everyday I will remind you
Find out what we’re made of
What we are called to help our friends in need
You can count on me like one, two, three
I’ll be there and I know when I need it
I can count on you like four, three, two
And you’ll be there ’cause that’s what friends
Are supposed to do, oh yeah, ooh, ooh, yeah, yeah
You’ll always have my shoulder when you cry
I’ll never let go, never say goodbye
You can count on me like one, two, three
I’ll be there and I know when I need it
I can count on you like four, three, two
And you’ll be there ’cause that’s what friends
Are supposed to do, oh yeah, ooh, ooh

You can count on me ’cause I can count on you
